| A DNS Resolver may also be referred to as a "DNS Server," however do not confuse the terminology; a DNS resolver is a DNS server that resolves host names into IP addresses. Internet service providers (ISPs) always offer DNS resolution service to their customers -- otherwise you as a customer would not be able to type "www.yahoo.com" into your browser, since it could not be resolved into an IP address. |
