Top-Level Domain

A top-level domain, or "TLD" is refers to the suffix attached to domain names. Top-level domains typically have some business meaning, or contain a country code.

Examples of US Top-Level domain names are:
  • com
  • net
  • org
  • info
  • biz
  • us


Examples of other top-level domain names are:
  • co.uk (for UK-based companies)
  • ca (Canada)
  • za (South Africa)
  • to (Tonga)

To register domain names under a given top-level domain, you must use a Domain Registrar.
