Troubleshooting: Why is my domain's status 'Moved Away'?
After migrating to the DNS V2 platform, you may see a domain's status in your DNS Management list change from "Active" to a red "Moved Away" label.
What does "Moved Away" mean?
This status is a critical alert. It means that our system has detected that your domain's nameservers are no longer pointing to Sitelutions DNS (ns6.sitelutions.com and ns7.sitelutions.com).
Because your nameservers are pointing elsewhere, our platform (and Cloudflare) can no longer manage your DNS records, and any records you have set up with us are no longer active on the internet.
Common Causes
- ICANN Verification: Sometimes, a domain registrar (even Sitelutions) may temporarily change your nameservers if your domain's contact information requires ICANN verification. You may have received an email to verify your email address.
- Registrar Change: You may have transferred your domain to a new registrar and they automatically changed your nameservers.
- Manual Change: You or someone with access to your registrar account may have manually changed the nameservers.
What You Need To Do: The 10-Day Grace Period
When our system first detects this change, it starts a 10-day grace period.
- Day 5: You will receive an automated email from us warning you about the situation.
- Day 8: You will receive a final warning email.
- Day 10: If the nameservers are still not corrected, your domain and all its DNS records will be permanently deleted from our V2 platform to prevent conflicts.
How to Fix It
The solution is simple:
- Log in to your domain's registrar (the company where you purchased the domain).
- Update the nameservers for the domain back to:
ns6.sitelutions.comns7.sitelutions.com
That's it. Our automated `status_rechecker` service runs periodically. Once it detects that your nameservers are pointing back to us, it will automatically switch your domain's status from "Moved Away" back to "Active" and cancel the pending deletion.
