Set Up Web Redirection & URL Forwarding (V2 Platform)
Our new DNS V2 platform makes it easy to redirect traffic from one hostname to another URL, now with full HTTPS support. Here is how to set up a new redirect rule for a single domain.
Setting Up a Single Redirect Rule
- From your Sitelutions Client Area, click on DNS Management in the main sidebar.
- You will see a list of your V2 domains. Locate the domain you wish to manage and click the Manage button (or click the
...icon and select "Manage"). - On the management page for your domain, click on the Redirection tab.
- In the "Add New Redirect Rule" section, fill in the fields:
- Hostname: Enter the hostname you want to redirect. Use
@or leave it blank to redirect your root domain (e.g.,your-domain.com). Usewwwto redirect thewwwsubdomain. - Destination URL: Enter the full URL where visitors should be sent. This must be a complete URL, including
https://orhttp://(e.g.,https://www.my-other-site.com). - Status Code: You can typically leave this as 301 (Permanent Redirect), which is the standard and best practice for SEO.
- Hostname: Enter the hostname you want to redirect. Use
- Click the Add Rule button.
Your request will be added to our queue and processed in the background, which usually completes within a minute.
Setting Up Bulk Redirects (Multiple Domains)
You can also apply the same redirect rule to multiple domains at once.
- From the main DNS Management page, use the checkboxes on the left to select all the domains you want to redirect.
- Once you select at least one domain, a "Bulk Actions" bar will appear at the bottom of the screen.
- Click the Add Bulk Redirection button.
- A modal window will appear. Fill in the **Hostname** (e.g.,
@for the root) and the **Destination URL**. - Click Apply Redirection. This will queue the same rule for all selected domains.
Our new V2 platform fully supports
https:// redirects. You can now redirect all traffic from your root domain (e.g., https://your-domain.com) to any destination, a frequently requested feature that our old system could not provide. The "Hide URL" (URL Masking) feature from our V1 system is no longer supported. This outdated technique, which used an HTML frameset, is heavily penalized by search engines (bad for SEO) and is not compatible with modern web security or HTTPS. The new V2 system uses proper HTTP 301/302 redirects, which is the modern industry standard and the correct way to forward a domain.
